Where your baby is born, the facility, its staff as well as its amenities will be an important part of your experience in bringing your new child into the world. If you’re pregnant now, you’ve already been thinking and preparing as much as you can for the event.  Of course you have the normal concerns and anxieties that are common to all women. 

In terms of decisions relating to having a baby, you probably place choosing the right doctor at the top of your list.  Once you’ve done that you should then devote some thought to evaluating where you will want to have your birth.  People don’t always realize they even have a choice in where that takes place.

Doctors usually have admitting privileges at more than one hospital.  That means they have an established relationship with those hospitals.  Some doctors have these at numerous facilities and thus would provide you with more choices.  If your health plan works with your doctor, usually the hospital wants to admit you to for delivery will also be fine with your plan.

There can be significant differences between one hospital’s birthing facilities, its amenities and supporting staff and other facilities in the same town.  It’s certainly worth taking your time to investigate what’s available.  Depending on what a particular hospital offers, it can make a big difference in comfort and peace of mind during your delivery.
